As women enter the post-menopausal phase of life, their bodies undergo significant changes, which impact their physical appearance and their overall well-being.
That is why I think that adopting a 360° approach to aesthetic care for women after menopause is key. It encompasses aesthetic and regenerative medicine, cosmetic surgery, hormonal supplementation, skincare, dietary supplements, fitness and wellness.
The idea is to provide you with some knowledge based on research and practice so you can enhance and enrich your practice.
1. Aesthetic Medicine: Enhancing Natural Beauty
Aesthetic medicine offers various non-invasive procedures designed to rejuvenate and enhance natural beauty. In my opinion, Treatments such as fillers, threads, peeling, laser and HIFU therapies can help address common concerns like wrinkles, loss of volume, and skin elasticity. These options provide women with effective ways to maintain their youthful appearance without the need for extensive recovery times.
These recommendations should be adapted according to age and season. Before the age of 30, start prevention with cosmetology and minimal doses of botulinum toxins (and start treatment with lasers and skin peelings in the event of puberty). Between the ages of 30 and 50, a cosmetology routine must be put in place along with healthy habits (e.g. no smoking or limited sun exposition).
Aesthetic medical treatments are also highly recommended and they change according to the seasons:
In autumn and winter, peeling and lasers;
In summer, skin regeneration using mesotherapy and regenerative medicine techniques.
Whatever the season, you can use botox (ideally twice a year) or HA (once every year or every two years).
2. Regenerative Medicine: A Path to Renewed Vitality
Regenerative medicine represents a groundbreaking approach to healing and rejuvenation, focusing on restoring the body’s natural functions and enhancing overall quality of life. This innovative field utilizes techniques such as stem cell therapy, tissue engineering, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments to repair damaged tissues and promote natural regeneration. For women post-menopause, regenerative medicine can offer solutions for addressing age-related issues such as joint pain, skin elasticity, vulvo-vaginal dryness and hair thinning. By harnessing the body’s innate healing capabilities, regenerative therapies not only target specific concerns but also contribute to a holistic sense of well-being. As research and technology continue to advance, regenerative medicine is poised to play an increasingly vital role in the aesthetic care landscape, empowering women to embrace vitality and rejuvenation at every stage of life.
3.Cosmetic Surgery: Tailored Solutions
For those seeking more transformative results, cosmetic surgery can be an option. Procedures such as facelifts, blepharoplasty, breast lifts, lipofilling and body contouring can restore confidence and address physical changes that may arise after menopause. It is essential to consult with qualified plastic surgeons to discuss goals and expectations, ensuring personalized care that prioritizes safety and satisfaction. Contrary to popular belief, it is better to start aesthetic surgery early after menopause.
4. Hormonal Supplementation: Restoring Balance
Hormonal changes during menopause can lead to various symptoms, including mood swings, weight gain and skin changes. Hormonal supplementation can help restore balance, alleviating these concerns and enhancing overall quality of life. Certified gynecologists can guide women in choosing the right hormonal therapies tailored to their individual needs (i.e. oestrogen and progesterone in minimum doses).
5. Skincare: Nurturing the Skin
As skin matures, it requires a revised skincare regimen. Investing in high-quality, age-appropriate skincare products can make a significant difference. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, retinoids, vitamine C and antioxidants that promote hydration, firmness, and radiance. Regular facials and consultations with skincare professionals can also offer personalized insights. Sun blockers SPF 50+ are crucial tools in the skincare routine.
6. Dietary Supplements: Nourishing from Within
A balanced diet complemented by dietary supplements can play a crucial role in post-menopausal wellness. Supplements such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, and collagen can support skin health, joint function, and overall vitality. Consulting with a nutritionist can help create a personalized supplement plan.
7. Fitness: Staying Active and Engaged
Regular physical activity is vital for maintaining health and vitality after menopause. Engaging in activities such as strength training, yoga and cardiovascular exercises can improve muscle tone, enhance mood, and promote overall wellness. Finding enjoyable activities fosters a sustainable fitness routine. Strength training can lead to a natural increase in testosterone level that could improve the libido and sexual quality of life.
8. Wellness: Mind and Body Connection
Finally, prioritizing mental and emotional well-being is essential. Practices such as mindfulness, meditation, and stress management techniques can help navigate this transitional phase with grace. Consider exploring holistic therapies like acupuncture or massage to further enhance relaxation and well-being.
In conclusion, embracing a holistic aesthetic approach to care after menopause empowers women to feel their best inside and out. By integrating aesthetic and regenerative medicine, cosmetic surgery, hormonal supplementation, skincare, dietary supplements, fitness, and wellness into daily life, women can navigate this transformative phase with confidence and grace.
