Interview – Dr Ricardo Mejia

President of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery

During the 2025 edition of AIME Congress in Paris, we had the opportunity to speak with Dr Ricardo Mejia, a dermatologist based in Jupiter, Florida, and President of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. He shared his impressions of the congress and the value he found in this international gathering.

What were the most memorable moments of this conference?

There were many memorable moments, but I think the most important one was hearing the quality of the presentations.

I listened to dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and other physicians from around the world who came to Paris to talk about their specialties. It was really nice to see different perspectives being presented.

Did the international dimension of the 2025 edition bring additional value?

Yes, absolutely. I think we have the opportunity to learn from different cultures and different people, and to see the different ways people do things in various places.

This adds significant value, because you can see how things are done differently around the world.

In the United States, for example, sometimes we are limited to the things we usually do. So it is really nice to see treatments and approaches coming from outside our usual environment.

Is there something you learned here that you could start applying in your practice tomorrow?

Yes. I saw different types of chemical peels used for skin rejuvenation, and that is something I could consider incorporating into my practice.

Would you recommend this congress to other colleagues and physicians?

Yes, absolutely. There is a lot of value in this congress. I think it is really worthwhile because it brings an international perspective on a variety of treatments.

You can really see and learn from different techniques.
